Druids Circle
circa 1935: A Druidical circle at Callanish in the Hebrides, Scotland. Scholars believe the ring of standing stones was erected nearly 4, 000 years ago for a sun worshipping ritual. A thick layer of peat was removed from the base of the stones in 1852 to reveal their original height and the tallest pillar, in the centre of the circle, stands 5 metres (nearly 16 ft) tall.
