Washington Irving
American writer Washington Iriving (1783 - 1859), who also worked under the pseudonym Geoffrey Crayon. Whilst in England from 1815 to 1822, he wrote The Sketch Book, including Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
