Dungeness Lighthouse and Clouds

Dark coloured lighthouse against vivid cloudscape. The Old Lighthouse is an Historic Grade II building, listed in 1992 by Shepway District Council, recently celebrating its centenary. Opened with great ceremony by the Prince of Wales in 1904 after a 3 year build, it survived two world wars before decommission in 1960. For 56 years it provided a welcome landlight to vessels negotiating the perils of the English Channel. The Lighthouse features in Nikolaus Pevsner's famous "Buildings of Kent"

Roker Pier #1 Featured Lighthouses Print

Roker Pier #1

Roker Pier, Sunderland, UK. October 28, 2018
Image shows Roker Pier and lighthouse in the UK. The rough seas all around the pier pounding the man-made structure with all the might of nature. We see one huge wave breaking over the pier wall while other smaller waves try to achieve similar effect. At the end of the pier we find a battered lighthouse, its paintwork faded due to the constant onslaught of the weather and the natural elements. The sky is clear except for some high cloud that is catching the red tinting from the rising sun, a sun that has manged to find a crack in the clouds on the horizon through which it has managed to shine
