Two Victorian men trying to force entry to a cottage

Two Victorian men trying to force their way into a cottage using a large piece of wood. The terrified inhabitant remonstrates with them while an alarmed-looking gentleman descends from a horse drawn carriage. It could be a violent eviction in progress. From Frank Fairlegh, or Scenes from the Life of A Private Pupila by Frank E Smedley (1818-1864) with illustrations by George Cruikshank. Published in 1850 by A Hall, Virtue & Co
