Cambodian Prince Norodom Sihanouk presents American President John F. Kennedy with a seven-centuries-old carved wooden Buddha at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City. The president and the Cambodian leader discussed Laos and Southeast Asia. Prince Sihanouk told the press that he and Kennedy were in agreement on the need for general neutrality in Laos, but that he felt it would be very hard to obtain.
