Wasp. The dam of Neasham, Nettle and Hurworth. London. Published by Rogerson & Tuxford, 246, Strand, 1861. (Originally produced for the Sporting Review.) Wasp was born in 1839, her sire being Muley Moloch, a strong stallion that won his races in the 1830s on race courses in northern England. Wasp had winning progeny including Neasham (a winner of the two-mile Northumberland Plate); Nettle (a winner of the Gimcrack Stakes); and Shot (1853, also a winner)
