Prince Albert (1819 - 1861, centre, right) lays the foundation stone of the Strangers Home for Asiatics, Africans, and South Sea Islanders in West India Dock Road, Limehouse, east London, 31st May 1856. The home was built by missionary societies and provided temporary accommodation and food for foreign sailors. A banner above the crowd reads: Be not forgetful to entertain strangers, a biblical quote from Hebrews 13:2. Original publication: Illustrated London News - Pub. 14th June 1856.
