The amazing architecture of Naghsh-e Jahan Square and Lotfollah Mosque in Esfahan, Iran
Photograph of Naghsh-e Jahan Square (also called Shah Square or Imam Square) during a spring day. The bushes are cut in the shape of the islamic star. In the background we can see the splendid architecture of the bazaar surrounding the square and the blue dome of Lotfollah Mosque which used to be a private mosque of the royal court.
The square is situated at the center of Isfahan city in Iran. It was constructed between 1598 and 1629, and is now an important historical site and one of UNESCOs World Heritage Sites.
This image was taken in Iran in spring 2013 during a journey by bicycle across Europe, Middle East and Asia
