Affectionately known as 'Leo', Herbert Felton was was a professional photographer who specialised in architectural photographer. Based in England, he worked for architectural publications before being appointed the first official staff photographer of the National Buildings Record (NBR), which was set up to record buildings under threat from wartime bombing. He would continue to photograph for the NBR until 1963.
