Two scenes from the Bayeux Tapestry
Two scenes from the Bayeux Tapestry. The Tapestry is actually an embroidered length of cloth rather than a tapestry and measures around 70 metres. It portrays the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England by William, Duke of Normandy, who overcame Harold, King of England at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. It contains around seventy scenes, though the last section is missing. From "French Pictures: Drawn With Pen and Pencil" by the Rev. Samuel G. Green, D.D.
