Greece: A team of Greek and American archaeologists announced at a news conference at the museum of fine arts here an important archeological find that lends support to the proposition that the lost continent of Atlantis was the Greek island of Thira in the Aegean Sea. Researchers partially unearthed on Thira the ruins of a Minoan city of at least one-half square mile and 30, 000 persons engulfed by volcanic ash about 1500 B.C. At left, researchers uncover a Minoan house in which they found whole vases (R) cracked form the volcanic pumice and ash.
