Framed Print of Archbishop Francis J. Spellman
(Original Caption). Archbishop Francis J. Spellman poses in his Cardinalate robes, vestments formerly worn by the late Cardinal Hayes, for the first time at the Archbishop's House, 452 Madison Avenue. Against a background of golden-hued drapes, Cardinal-designate Spellman is seated wearing the Cardinal's choir cassock, which is of watered silk, red being the color except during the Masses, when the color is purple. Choir vestments are those worn in the sanctuary. The color of the Cardinal's sash changes with the choir cassock and includes a gold braid tassel instead of the silk tassel worn by Bishops and Archbishops. Over the cassock is the rochet, a narrow sleeve garment reaching to the knees and made of white linen, the lower part being lace, and the mozzetta, a cape reaching to the elbows with buttons in the front and with a rudimentary hood behind. On his head Cardinal designate. Unleash your creativity with premium art prints that turn any room into a visual masterpiece.
