Framed Print of Aviator Al Wilson in Curtiss Pusher Plane
(Original Caption). Los Angeles: Al Wilson, one of aviation's outstanding stunt flyers, arrived here at the Los Angeles Municipal Airport from Chicago in an ancient 1910 model Curtiss pusher-type plane. Wilson left Chicago on August 13 last and made 36 stops on his way to Los Angeles. All but three of these were for refueling, the gas tanks of the old style plane having a capacity for but 1 1/2 hours of flying. The plane's top speed is 60 miles per hour. Two of the stops were caused by motor trouble and the third was due to a broken gas line, forcing Wilson down in a creek bed sixty miles west of El Paso, Texas. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
