Fifty-four years ago a youngster with nothing but hope and the ability to play baseball climbed aboard a train caboose at Pittsburgh to bum a ride to Steubenville to seek his fortune on the diamond. That youngster became one of the all-time greats of the national game. Today at 74 he is one of the most beloved figures of the diamond. He is Honus Wagner, who is shown here as he reenacted the incident that placed his feet on the bottom rung of fame's ladder. In the tableau are (left to right). Brakeman R.G. Horn; conductor C.H. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm).
