The ceremony was performed at the Mission Inn at Riverside, California, after the episcopal Diocese had refused to allow them to be married at Miss Davis own church because she had been previously divorced. Her uncle, an Episcopal clergyman, assisted in the ceremony which was performed by a Congregational Minister
