London, England: It looks very much as though the king of comedians was being snubbed by the Prince of Wales in this closeup photo of the royal party at the recent ice carnival for the benefit of the northern hospital. Chaplin, who is said to be climbing high in the British social scale, appears smiling and self confident, strikingly contrasting the pained, slightly annoyed expression of the heir to the British throne. Some say the Prince did not approve of the placing of the screen's favorite low comedian at his right hand during dinner. Other's said the royal guest was affected by sad memories of the tragic death of Viscountess Rosemary Ednam, who died in an airplane crash the summer before last and who is commemorated by the hospital ward for which the benefit was held.
