(Original Caption). Fullback Alan Ameche (35) gallops over the goal line for Wisconsin's second touchdown in the first quarter of the November 6th game with Northwestern. Wisconsin kept its Rose Bowl hopes alive with a smashing 34-13 victory over Northwestern. Ameche set a new four year collegiate rushing record. Ameche, who played as a freshman during the Korean War, picked up 59 yards to run his total yardage to three thousand, one hundred and eighty-six yards, -twenty better than the mark set by Ollie Matson at San Francisco. Other identifiable players are: Jim Miller (21); Dick Frecks (27); and Norm Amundsen (60), all of Wisconsin.
