(Original Caption). Buenos Aires, Argentina: For the past year, a large and imposing edifice in downtown Buenos Aires has been unused. It is the Congressional Palace. A military coup deposed President Arturo Illia in July, 1966, and dissolved Congress. Pres. Juan Carlos Ongania, a general who heads the current government, can see the tower of Congress building if he looks down the Avenida de Mayo from the Casa Rosada, or presidential palace, about a mile away. But Ongania has given no hint of how long it will be before elections are called to put legislators back in the unused Senate and Deputies chambers. Recent remarks by the military leader refer to true democracy being based on something besides political parties. Meanwhile, the parties remain out of business. No elections are scheduled. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
