The ups and downs of a baseball hero are illustrated here as Giant Dusty Rhodes hits the dirt in the fifth inning of the 1954 World Series second game, on a close inside pitch by Cleveland's Early Wynn. Rhodes, rising to the occasion as the Indians led, 1-0, got up and singled to drive in Willie Mays and tie up the ball game. It was 2-1 at the end of the inning and 3-1 at the end of the game, after Rhodes seventh inning homer. He was pinch-hitting for Monte Irvin.
