Director of Mission Operations Gene Kranz (L), NASA administrator James Beggs (behind Bush) and Johnson Space Center Director Gerald Griffin were on hand to greet the vice president. The world map behind Bush is used to show the shuttle's orbit and to the right is a large TV screen with a live picture of the shuttle astronauts.
