(Original Caption). NASA Apollo 8 astronaut photographs the moon through spacecraft window about 69miles up on Christmas Eve in this cutaway illustration by north American Rockwell's (NAR). Space Division. Spacecraft is traveling east to west at about 3, 640 miles an hour. Astronauts will photograph proposed lunar landing sites including a smooth area in the Sea of Tranquility. Earth (top left), about 240, 000 miles off, appears as it will be seen by astronauts near the end of the third (or start of fourth) day of the mission. Ten two-hour orbits are planned before the return trip home begins. Spacecraft for the Apollo 8 mission consists of command (crew quarters) and service (storage and propulsion) modules produced by NAR's space Division for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang.
