(Original Caption). United States Ambassador James B. Conant (left) arrives at the U.S. sector Lichterfelde Station, and is met by U.S. Commandant of Berlin Major General Charles L. Dasher, Jr. (right) and Bernard Gufler (center), State Department Chief in Berlin. Following incidents in which a group of Americans, including two Congressmen, were arrested at gunpoint in East Berlin, and the rejection by the East German military commander of the subsequent American protest, Conant travelled to Berlin as it appeared there was a Soviet attempt to claim four power agreements were no longer in force in Berlin. Conant told newsmen, We will remain in Berlin until the day of German reunification. To underscore his point, Conant toured the Eastern sector in a car flying an American flag and equipped with a radio-telephone. The reason given for the arrest of the Congressmens group was that. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
