(Original Caption). Major Jimmy Doolittle is being greeted by Mayor Ellenstein (left) of Newark after breaking the coast-to-coast record for transport planes. Mrs. Doolittle, who flew on the record breaking hop with her husband, is also shown in the photo. Doolittle took off from Los Angeles at 5:27 last night and touched his wheels at Floyd Bennett Airport in Brooklyn at 8:26 AM this morning where the flight officially ended. However, he did not stop there, but rolled along the ground for about 200 feet and took off again for Newark Airport where he landed at 8:34 1/2 AM. Doolittle flew an all metal vultee. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass).
