(Original Caption). Crown Prince Olav of Norway has been named Commander-in-Chief of all Norwegian armed forces, according to word received from London. The appointment became effective as of July 1, and will apply until futher notice, although not longer than until the first ordinary cabinet council can be held in Oslo, the official announcement said. As Commander-in-Chief, Crown Prince Olav, who passed his 41st birthdy on July 2, will succeed Major General Wilhelm Hansteen, who now becomes next-in-command to the Crown Prince. Crown Prince Olav is a full general in the Norwegian Army and an officer in the regular army. Up to the time he was appointed to a colonelcy in 1936 he had advanced step by step like any other Norwegian officer.
