Moscow, U.S.S.R.: The bearded patriarch with the cudgel here is Ivan Vasilievich Zhishin, a 102 year old honorary miner who spent 70 years of his life digging coal and is now a pensioner of the Soviet government. Ivan was photographed enjoying a game of gordoki (favorite Russian outdoor sport) at the Shakhtyor (coal miners holiday home) in Kizil, where he spends his vacations. Gorodki consists of hurling a club at a pattern of sticks set up at a distance from the throwing line. Idea is to scatter the sticks. Thrower who makes the widest scatter is the winner. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang.
