(Original Caption) 1938-Hunan, China: China's girls as well as boys are infused with a new spirit of patriotism. It is all voluntary and now there are some 20, 000 high school girls concentrated somewhere in Hunan Province. This series of pictures shows their advance training before they are placed in actual service. They are treated like the boys and like them are trained to use small and heavy arms. Their main work however, will be to help the refugees during evacuations, first aid and special work. The first contingent will be put on the field at the end of February with new contingents being turned out each ensuing month. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass).
