The mass movement of hungry East Germans into West Berlin for precious free food packages is being described as GREATER THAN THE EXODUS FROM BERLIN DURING THE WAR. West Berlin was preparing today for an expected flood of East Germans adding to the hundreds of thousands who have already crossed the border. These photographs, made on the second day of the vast OPERATION HUNGER program shows left Photo--Huge crowds of East Zone residents lined up in front of the Wilpiersdorf City Hall. All of these people are from the East-German Province of Brandenberg. Center Photo Shows some of the food seekers overcome with weariness and heat resting on the curb in front of the police station. Others are shown on line, Photo at Right Shows a West Berlin policeman giving directions to the East Germans on the safest way to cross over into. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
