New York, New York: Promoter Don King and heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali announced a program to help Africans in the Sahel drought belt at a United Nations press conference Wednesday, March 5. Don King Productions and Video Techniques will donate 50 cents of every ticket sold to watch the March 24th heavyweight doubleheader fight on closed-circuit TV to UNICEF and Africare to be used to dig wells in the drought stricken African nations of Senegal and Niger. This is part of a national effort by American blacks to help African blacks reach self-determination. Officials from both UNICEF and Africare also attended to spell out how funds would dig up to 230 wells and support as many as 130, 000 people.
