(Original Caption) 12/16/1951-New York, NY-Members of the Congress of Industrial Workers Transport Workers Union parade in front of the Pan American Airways office at Idlewild Airport. The strike of mechanics, stewards and comissary employees of the airline started on midnight, December 15th, 24 hours ahead of schedule. Pan American supervisory employees donned overalls to keep the planes flying, but many cancellations and delays were reported. Airline officials in San Francisco reported that its Korean airlift was in jeopardy, due to the cross country work stappage. The union said that it expected all planes to be grounded by Tuesday in order to back demands for increased wages.
