(Original Caption). Cambridge, Massachusetts: Brain Machine. The Electroencephotograph Charts Brain Reactions. This new scientific mechanism as developed at the Harvard Medical School, was recently demonstrated to the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology at Detroit. It records the electrical changes which take place in the human brain during periods of rest, and activity, and the record appears as a wave pattern written on tape. Sleep, fainting and epileptic seizures have patterns different from those of the normal waking state, and those waking patterns too can be changed during concentrated mental work. Needles are placed in the subject's scalp and ear, to conduct the electrical reactions form within the brain to vacuum tube amplifiers in the two boxes. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass).
