(Original Caption). Major Arthur Murray of Harrisburg, PA. reached a height of around 90, 000 feet last month, it was reported this week, to set a new world altitude record. Air Force Secretary Harold Hurray announced the new record but did not disclose details because of security regulations. The flight was made over Edwards Air Force Base. The plane used was the Bell X-1A, the stubby flying laboratory. For the altitude test, the X-1A was taken 33, 000 feet into the air to conserve its fuel, and then launched from the belly of a B-26. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang.
