This isn't so much a gymnastic trick as a photographic trick, but it shows the two sides of Don Tonry, University of Illinois ace who is sticking to the books and passing up a 1956 Olympic berth. A sophomore in March when he made his first appearance in national competition, Tonry won the Big Ten all-around gymnast grown, and is being called the best all around man in the country on side horse, parallel bars, high bar and winging rings. Tontry says he'd have to let his studies go to practice probably foe the Melbourne games and that he'll still be young enough for the 1960 Olympics. He got his start in the central YMCA in Brooklyn, New York, where he grew up. He graduated from the high school of Industrial Art in Manhattan and worked as a commercial artist until he had taken the necessary extra courses to enter college. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
