(Original Caption). Judge Landis resigns from federal bench. The resignation of Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis, famous federal judge, was forwarded to President Harding in the mails Feb. 18th. The distinguished jurist will relinquish his office as senior judge of the U.S. district court on March 1st. Judge Landis retires from his life position as a U.S. jurist to devote the time to organized baseball of which he is the head and high commissioner. He accepted the baseball leadership fifteen months ago at a salary of $50, 000 a year with a seven year contract. When it was decided as a result of protest against leaving the bench, that he would remain on the bench and administer baseball affairs also, the contract was revised so that his judicial salary of $7500 would be deducted making his annual salary $42, 500.
