(Original Caption) 8/21/1958-Oklahoma City: A waitress standss behind counter with arms folded, refusing to serve Negroes at the soda fountain at the downtown branch of the Katz Drug store. The store manager, J. B. Masoner, said negroes would be allowed to sit at the soda counter as long as they wished, but they would not be served. Local leaders of the NAACP organized a protest against this descrimination. Thirty teenage Negroes participated in the first demonstration.
