With Dodger catcher, Roy Campanella (39) behind the plate, and Umpire Stewart calling the play, Thompson tensely waits for the ball. Note ball in mid air. Thomson swings and Umpire Stewart calls Strike One'. Branca ended up pitching four balls and walking Thomson. The Dodgers won the game, 11-6.
