Russell Means (l) and Dennis Banks are to go on trial 1/8 in Federal District Court in St. Paul, MN, for their participation in the occupation of Wounded Knee, SD. Banks said the defense would seek to rely on rights guaranteed by Indian treaties including the 1869 Treaty of Fort Laramie. Banks also claimed 1/7, at a news conference, that Indian people have suffered 200 years of repression by the Federal Government.
