Starving People In Post War Tokyo
(Original Caption) 10/19/1945-Tokyo, Japan: First signs of starvation stalking the streets of Tokyo are begining to come to light as hundreds of starving and homeless Japanese jam the Ueno railway station in Northeast Tokyo these windy fall nights in quest of shelter and food. Police estimate two to three die each night from starvation. Because their country hungered for power and lost, these people wander around with no avenue of support open to them. It is just one of many similar scenes in post war Tokyo
