Framed Print of Stratojet Bomber Performing a Test Flight
(Original Caption). A wingswept Reconnaissance plane, the six jet RB 47E (a model of the B-47 Stratojet bomber shown here during a recent test) flew from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Wichita, Kansas, last week in fifteen minutes and 20 seconds. The flight over the 157 mile interstate course was noteworthy not only because it set an unofficial speed record between the two cities, but because the average speed of 622 miles an hour was maintained with the bomber's engines operated considerably below their maximum output. An innovation in the E-model Stratojets and the RB-47E's is the use of an approach chute. As the plane enters the landing pattern a large parachute attached to the tail is released at an altitude of about 1, 000 feet allowing the engines to revolve at high thrust rate without flying the plane at an extremely high speed. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass).
