(Original Caption). Ernest Lee Edwards, 24, leaves a paddy wagon at New York police headquarters here on July 7, 1954, to appear in a police lineup in connection with the alleged killing of Howard Englander, 29. A Brooklyn mechanic, Edwards is accused by Richard Connors, 23, with whom he lives in Philadelphia, or slaying Englander on July 5th, as he fished off a pier at the foot of Hastings Street, on Manhattan Beach, and robbing him of $1.00. Edwards and Connors, both ex-convicts, were picked up five hours later in upper Manhattan, where they drove in Englander's car, after police said they slugged a pedestrian. Police launches and helicopters are still searching the waters off the pier for the body of Englander, which Connors, according to police, said he and Edwards tried with fishing line and dumped into the ocean.
