(Original Caption). Dr. Thora Hardy, microanalyst of the Fish and Wildlife Service at the Wildlife Research Refuge at Patuxent, Maryland, might be described as the Furs Lady of the Land. Her job, which entails exhaustive analyses of furs under all sorts of conditions, was created in 1938 because of her outstanding ability in the study of furs. The purpose of Dr. Hardy's research is to improve and to set up standards in the quality of furs on the North American market. Trappers, breeders and buyers, alike, closely follow her findings. Currently, Dr. Hardy is giving particular attention to domestic production of furs which formerly came exclusively from foreign sources. Persian lamb, Karakul sheep, and Angora rabbits are some of the animals in this category. Here, Dr. Hardy is measuring the fur fibres of a black baby lamb skin. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass).
