A visit to Tuskegee Institute. Tuskegee Inst. Ala.: On Sunday, April 7, Booker T. Washington, an ex-slave who founded Tuskegee Institute in 1881 becomes the first negro to be honored on a United States Postage stamp. On the 7th first day of issue, Postmaster General James A. Farley will sell the first Booker T. Washington stamp at the Tuskegee Institute Post Office, situated on the campus of the most famous Negro Educational Institution in the world. Later, Farley will make the Founder's Day Address during the final ceremonies of the Stamp celebration. the camera takes us on a visit to Tuskegee Electrical System modern hospital (negro Doctor's and nurses) besides having its own U.S. Post Office on the campus. Its administration is entirely negro. The school is 240 Faculty members and averages 2, 000 students annually. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
