Framed Print of Unusual Musician Sitting on Floor for Nap
(Original Caption). Meet Moondog, crouching in the doorway of a New York store at left. He is playing two instruments which he invented for giving out modern musical sounds not usually found in orthodox musical instruments. The triangular one in the foreground is the stringed oo. Moondog not only invents and plays unusual instruments, but composes what he calls Euphonies. These he records. Moondog's sleeping quarters are on a sixth Avenue roof, but he occasionally takes a nap in a doorway, as he is doing in this photo. At such times, he dons the sleeping mask that he is wearing, that is not to keep out light--for Moondog is totally blind. He was born to Louis Thomas Hardin and got the name Moondog from nearby Italians, when he was a boy in Missouri. He lost his sight at 16 when a dynamite cap exploded near him. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
