(Original Caption). This is an aerial view of the plane crash scene as it was taken from a police helicopter. It shows the burning pier hit by the four engine Italian plane as it came toward Idlewild runway in poor visibility for the fourth landing attempt. Thick clouds of smoke billow from the 2, 000 foot pier along which the ill-fated craft brushed, shearing two of the beacon lights. Before plunging into the waters of Jamaica Bay. Only six persons of the 32 aboard the Rome to New York liner are known to have survived the tragedy. Runways start as shown at upper right. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass).
