(Original Caption). A combination air-sea-bus-car terminal is being proposed as a method of solving New York City's gigantic traffic muddle in the February issue of Mechanic illustrated magazine. This sketch shows the giant heliport and passenger terminal designed by aviation expert Frank Tinsley. He cites New York Port Authority figures indicating that by 1975 helicopters will carry an estimated six million passengers, six and a half million points of cargo and 40 1/2 million points of mail in and out of the city yearly. Yet, says Tinsley, little thought has been given to the handling of this traffic on the ground. He suggests two huge multipurpose terminals, one on the East River at 33rd Street (above) and the other on the West Side of Manhattan. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass).
