Framed Print of Homeless People Huddling Together

(Original Caption) Houseless and Hungry. By Luke Fildes, in the first number of the London Graphic, 1869. Millais to Charles Dickens the latter was so pleased with its character-delineation that he engaged Fildes to illustrate The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Luke Fildes, born 1844, evinced great talent for drawing at the age of ten. He studied at the Warrington School of Art. When eighteen he came up to London and won a scholars.
