(Original Caption). New York: Testing Air Lifts. Nautical Gold Diggers'...On Trail Of Sunken Treasure. Two modern nautical gold-diggers testing the two large air lifts which will be used aboard the S. S. Captain Drew during the forthcoming expedition in search of the supposed treasure of 900, 000 Spanish Doubloons valued at from five to forty million dollars, which was presumably aboard the British ship De Braak which sank off Cape Henlopen near the entrance of Delaware Bay in 1798. The air lifts are operated by forcing steam into the lower ends of air tight pipes, thus creating a terrific suction which pumps up practically anything that the lower ends come in contact with under water. At sixty feet, the pressure is 35 pounds per square inch, this pressure increasing as the lifts sink to a greater depth. The seamen are shown panning and raking as water pours from the lifts. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
