Nash Lathe
Sylvester Nashs lathe for turning musket barrels devoloped at the Springfield Armory in Massachusetts in 1817 and patented April 11, 1818. It was designed to produce the taper of the barrel but could not form the oval shape at the butt end. Eventually it was Thomas Blanchards design which achieved the required shapes.
