May 1906: A meet of the Dumfriesshire Otter Hounds at Shieldhill, Dumfries and Galloway in south-west Scotland. The groups title, Otter Hounds, refers to a variety of dog which has been bred for hunting since the twelfth century. The animals, also known as otter-dogs, have a coarse oily coat to protect them from the cold and the water. They can weigh up to 115 lb and stand 27 inches tall.
