Princes Street
25th June 1923: Traffic and passers-by in Princes Street, Edinburgh. Princes Street, named after George IIIs sons, was designed by James Craig (c. 1740 - 95) who built hotels and shops on the north side of the street and left the south side open to slope down to public gardens. Craigs most significant achievement was his winning design for the New Town which was submitted in 1767. (Photo by Alfred Hind Robinson/A H Robinson/Getty Images)
