River At Perth
29th June 1923: The River Tay running through Perth. Perth, known as the fair city, was the capital of Scotland for over a century until James I of Scotland was murdered there in 1437 and his widow, Joan Beaufort, and her son, James II, moved the Royal Court to Edinburgh. Landmarks in the city include the Church of St John the Baptist (St Johns Kirk) where John Knox gave his famous sermon against idolatry in 1559.
